The following is a calendar of community events in the Baton Rouge area from Friday-Thursday, June 27.

FRIDAY

MOVIES ON THE PLAZA:7 p.m., Main Library at Goodwood, 7711 Goodwood Blvd. Family-friendly movie on the big screen outdoors. Bring lawn chair or blanket. S.A.B. Snowball Shoppe will sell refreshments, and there will be an after-movie dance party. Free.

FRIDAY NIGHT LECTURE SERIES:7:30 p.m., Highland Road Park Observatory, 13800 Highland Road. Series covering skygazing tips, physics phenomena, space programs, famous events and celestial histories and possible futures. Evening sky viewings follow at 8:30 p.m. Also, 7:30 p.m. Saturday. AMATEUR RADIO DAY:2 p.m.-8 p.m.,Highland Road Park Observatory, 13800 Highland Road. Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club hosting amateur radio operations. Find out what amateur radio is about and why wireless communication is gaining in popularity among all age groups. Make radio contact with a person in another state or possibly another country using a battery-powered radio and a simple wire antenna. LORI'S WORLD REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT DAY: 2 p.m., Raising Cane's River Center, 275 S. River Road. Events honoring the world’s more than 16 million refugees and raising awareness around refugee issues.
