Great lesson :) I have just dumped my ( currently) ex girlfriend. :)
rafa1230
You are cold-hearted freak. There is no reason for boasting here.
proverbial horse
I Think the cold-hearted freak in this website is you. Be polite, please.
Mikelcom
My comment addressed “rafa1230” who was writing that he had dumped his girlfriend and had been glad and showed it by putting smiles in his post . As for politeness I agree. The more so that INGVID is the most politically correct place I have ever been. As for Ben , He is OK , he was explaining things
proverbial horse
What’s wrong with you? it was the best example so people can understand the real point so… dont act like an idiot
jdavid298
Come on guys! Don’t take it seriously. There are plenty more fish in the sea.
Well, well, well, . . . on second thought it is impolite to insult people, but if you insulted someone’s intelligense Oooops! you’re getting into trouble.
Regino
Ben just wanted to make lesson more impressive , I suppost … if that guy from Russia called him a freak that means only his own level of culture. If you not agree with lesson make comments, add your thoughts … but say nothing about personality
dlvbasys

.9/10 – “get over it”. Not, “jump over it”. Because during the explanation, the example was somebody jumping over the situation, and I got confused. Anyway, cheers

Great lesson, Ben, thanks a lot!
The expressions in the video were almost all new for me and the way you introduce them would deserve an Oscar!
Now I’ll try to take them in and fix them in my mind! As I know me, I’m going to lose half of them in the next three days!
Thanks again and see you the next lesson!

Hello Benjmin, I like your teaching method and you are Great teacher. I would like you to explain me the difference between these two sentences.here are sentences,We were supposed to have left for the airport 20 minutes ago.
We were supposed to leave for the airport 20 minutes ago.can we use to leave instead of to have.is tnat correct if i use to leave
in sentence.
fari.immy
Hi fari.immy
Many people say that. So i guess, it won’t be wrong if you use ‘leave’ instead of ‘to have’.
But let me tell you that the first sentence sounds more standard and British.
Also, i think, the first sentence should be “We (are) supposed to have left”, not ‘were’.
But I could be wrong.
But yes, you can definitely use ‘leave’ :)
hope it wasn’t confusing
regards
abhi
abhishek1995
Hello fari, I’d like to give you my opinion in your question, I hope you find it helpful.
“We were supposed to have left for the airport 20 minutes ago.” Means that we left for the airport, but not when we were supposed to, which means we were 20 minutes late when we left.
“We were supposed to leave for the airport 20 minutes ago.” Means we haven’t left yet and we needed to have left 20 minutes ago.
So, it all depends on what idea you want to express.
LuisR91
thanks
nornut

Than you Ben) Tell me please about ” If someone annoys me, there are getting on my nerves” But why we use “Are” instead of ” Is”?
Kurek
Because “They” is a plural from of pronoun and we use “are” with it.
Yaryna.mandaryna
form*
Yaryna.mandaryna
Yaryna is right! Grammatically, we always treat “they” like a plural, even when using it to talk about one person.

Thank you Benjamin for your lesson. But I am a bit confused about two expressions you’ve mentioned in the video:
-Getting on my nerves
– To rub someone up the wrong way.
In which specific occasion am I suppose to use each expression? Because they mean annoy/irritate
